Flying Probe Testing
|
|
Multiple moving test probes check both the component side and solder side simultaneously. Each individual circuit test is compared to CAD-generated NET list information. "Opens" and "shorts" are detected at up to 2000 tests per hour.
This system is ideal for quick-turn & prototype orders. Since a rigid fixture does not need to be built, cycle-time is reduced and at a cost saving, which is passed on to our valued customers.

Excel's 2 Probot flying probe electrical testers provide a cost effective bridge between flying-grid and rigid fixture alternatives. |

| Gerber/Barco Photoplotter |
|
The 3 Gerber-Barco/Mania photo-plotters owned by Excel use a rotating laser to create image on orthographic film.
Resolution is possible down to .00025" (1/4 mil). Improved controller software improves through-put by processing data 10 times quicker than previous versions.
With the recent addition of the Escort automated film handler, most films are now loaded and unloaded by an enclosed conveyor system. By reducing human handling, the risk of consequential film handling damage and related defects is minimized. |

| Hot Air Solder Level (HASL) |
|
Excel Electrocircuit offers "Lead-free" (RoHS) HASL process as an alternate option to standard tin/lead solder. Environmental concerns have driven the industry in search of alternatives to the classic tin/lead solder coating process. Fortunately, research rendered tin-based alloys that do NOT include lead, and provide several advantages including: (1) Superior surface planarity (2) Extended shelf-life compared to classic tin/lead (3) Improved topography, especially on fine pitch and small surface mount features. This leads to improved gasketing for solder paste applications reducing shorts and solder balling during assembly. The new higher tin content alloys also offer superior solderability for final assembly, and require absolutely NO adjustments in processes or parameters by the final assembler.
The advantages are many ~ all conversion is implemented entirely by the bare-board manufacturer.
Excel has two HASL machine from Lantronics Corporation. CLICK HERE to LEARN MORE... |

LANTRONIC Circuit Technologies Hot Air Solder Level (HASL) system submerses large panels after resist application, in molten solder. After a brief dwell, the panel is extracted vertically. Two "air knifes" use hot air to remove excessive solder from the non-metallic surfaces.

| OLEC AT-30 |
|
| Equiped with AccuTray AutoAlign Imaging System for Automatic Film Registration ~ Integrated cameras optimize film image registration by recognizing film features and drilled holes in panel. Both top & bottom films are adjusted automatically. Dimensional changes caused by atmospheric conditions and process effects are compensated within a pre-defined margin to render superior results across the entire panel.

| Pumice scrubber |
|
using fine pumice based solution to clean panel surfaces for superior solder-resist ("mask") adhesion. This is a very safe alternative to acid-based cleaning methods such as "micro-etch" baths.
Oxidation is effectively removed from bare copper or other finish surfaces, as well as incidental chemical residues or other contaminates. |
